I happened to be in Detroit yesterday, and I drove past an old school built in 1914 that appears abandoned. It is on McGraw close to Livernois. I like detecting in old school yards, but I have no idea if that is allowed in Detroit, or if it is safe to do so in that area. Can anyone comment on either of those questions?

Thanks,

Dan

It's always better to have permission. If the school has changed owners, it may be private property and you would be tresspassing.
As far as safety concerns, just completely avoid all of Detroit.

Thanks for the response. I think you are right, just avoid Detroit.

I think the city of Detroit used the same building plans for most of it's schools lol. I went to a middle school that looked just like that in northeast Detroit.

do a google image search for 'detroit middle school' and you'll see quite a few of similar architecture.
