Started out today with a couple friends hunting a colonial site with no luck, but good company to start a new year. My cousin Brian and I went to a permission site around noon, and the first thing that I dug was a full date 1921 standing liberty quarter. Later in the day I scored my second silver,a 1939 merc. Love them mercs. My cousin ended our hunt with a nice Buffalo. Happy Newyear Everybody. IMG_20150101_114650640.jpg IMG_20150101_122920060.jpg IMG_20150101_122929273.jpg IMG_20150101_125250990.jpg

Congrats on a rare key date, finding any pre-1926 standing liberty with a date is very hard, in 1926 they had to remodel the design to make it so the date does not wear off. I would only dream of finding that.

You found a $300 key date coin, which is a pretty impressive thing to accomplish.

That thing is clean as chitlin . Nice Score !

Now this reminds me of a story my stepfather told me......

In the 1950's we were still pretty isolated here in the Southern Blue Ridge Mountains.

Chitlins were still an "acceptable" meal here, and we ate Polk Salad too, and it was delicious.... But I can honestly say, I've never eaten chitlins..

My stepfather said he and and buddy were drinking - a favorite recreation for him. They went to a chitlin sling. Said his buddy stuffed a tootsie roll up one of them hot innards, gave it time to melt, and then cut it and hollered the chitlins hadn't been cleaned. The reaction was as it would be expected, some started 'urping', some left, and some just stood there.

I'll never eat chitlins...

She's a beauty, Todd. Very tough to find the early ones with a date and that one has a nice strong date. Should be an easy $250-$400 coin if you ever decide to sell it.

Great find. I found a 1921 in EF condition that sold for nearly $600.00 a few years ago. Park Pirate dug a gorgeous '21 last year.
