Nice Spanish Silver! I love finding that stuff. 8)

Oh and a quick electrolysis jolt probably would have given good results too. Works great on badly encrusted silver.
Thanks, Electrolysis removes part of the coins surface and is much to harsh a cleaning method for me on a coin. Ive also seen coins darken after a while after electrolysis But to each his own :icon_thumleft: Best of luck HH

I agree. The only time I use a quick blast of electrolysis on a coin is when it is encrusted in "concrete soil".

Very nice find on the silver. You have me beat by more than 30 years!

Congrats, one thing that you do not see posted too often are any Milled Pillar Half Reals, for some reason, the Pillar One Real is found in some quantity by detecorists, but the Half Real is a scarce find. By far the vast majority of the Half Reals that are found are the Charles III and IIII(IV) Bust types.
I was lucky enough to find my Pillar Half Real two years ago, I believe out of approx 40+ Spanish silver between myself and my son there is only one Pillar Half Real found.

Beautiful 1/2 reale!!! :hello2:
I just dug the exact same reale about 2 weeks ago, but the most incredible its that the condition its exactly the same!!!, we could put both pics together and you could´nt tell the difference.
I would appreciate it if you send me the secret recipe, because I started to clean mine with ammonia, and stopped very soon.

Best regards and congrats

Nutria
