I just started doing this not too long ago. So far just 1 40% and 1 64'. I know alot of casinos use halves for black jack payouts. Has anyone ever tried taking some halves in to the casino? I doubt buying them there would be a succesful endeavor. Every dealer I talk to looks for silver when they crack a roll. Except for the younger dealers that just look at me like a retard when I ask ::) .

I know Harrah's will charge youif you try and cash in a lot of halves. They wanted 7% when I brought a load in. I used to always save my halves and accumulated around $400 over a decade from blackjack. They have eliminated most coins from machines and now issue paper for slot payouts. Tables that still offer 3:2 payout on blackjack use halves unless they have the $2.50 chips. A dealer in Reno did give me 64 last year when he saw I checking the halves. Of course, I was winning and tipping nice as well.

I always edge check the dealers tray now :p.

Your best bet is to find a smaller casino that still uses coin machines.

I've dumped once or twice at a casino and the most if I remember was about $50. I think it is all about finding the limit. How much can you walk in with without them asking questions, giving you a hard time, etc. A small Indian casino would attract more attention then maybe Vegas. But then who knows?

I've gotten a '64 half handed to me from a dealer. One time I spotted a '68 in the tray and asked for it. YMMV.

Also someone else's experience: http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php?topic=294588.0

Dumping at a Casino could run you into some problems later on.

This could be construed as money laundering. I know the alphabet boys watch this relatively closely for this reason and if you are seen to turn in a lot of halves on a regular basis they might want to talk to you about it.

While it seems like a decent way to cash in some halves, it could also invite unwanted attention.

IMO it is not worth the potential problems.
