A little chilly on the river today shooting Eagle pictures. Five degrees and a little wind, but the sky was a crisp blue and that helps shooting pictures.

I use a Canon Rebel XTI and the lens is a Canon 70-300mm lens with image stabilizer on it.This isn't the best lens around, but for the money its OK on some things, but has its limits. Ive seen your pictures and you really post some great shots and you seem to enjoy photography. Its a great hobby! These Eagles today I got pretty close to and with this lens and even the larger ones, getting close means a lot.Molly said:Very nice, what camera do you have?

Thanks CG. They sure are a beautiful bird. They have made a great comeback in Iowa also. There isn't as many around the spot I go to take these shots at this year, but enough to get some pictures. It is a great opportunity to see them and take pictures. They know your looking at them and seem to stare back. These Eagles concentrate below a dam where the only open water for them to fish at is located. Its about a 30 minute drive from where I live. Here's one from yesterday.COUNTRY GIRL said:Van, Those are awesome pictures, I especially like the head shot, beautiful!
To days paper states that we have now gone from 8 Eagles in 1980 to 80 Eagles in 2009. They state it is the biggest comeback of Bald eagles in the lower 48 states.
What a beautiful bird!
