Once in a while I find one of these birds that is not afraid. It's a young bald eagle. I think their head and tail feathers don't turn white until they are about five years old.
I spotted this one along the road this morning and stopped and got out and snapped a few pictures. He was still there when I left.

Great pictures. I've been told there are lots of photograph-able eagles on the Klamath marsh. I've wanted to go down there and check it out, but have yet to make it.

You sure have some good camera gear there Ron. Your picture has such wonderful focus and clarity. I hope the opportunity for a bird in flight like this one comes your way.

Yeah, I have heard about that too. I have researched it a little, and supposed to be hundreds of eagles that winter there. It's about a hundred miles south of where I live, but I have never made it down there either. I do sometimes go to the lesser known north Klamath Marsh about 30 miles from home.

Yes, a good lens certainly helps. I used the 400mm for these. I was also fortunate to have the right morning light conditions, and a cooperative bird that allowed me to get on the right side of him with the sun at my back.

If I wouldn't have been on another mission, I may have stuck around and tried to catch a flying shot.

Many Thanks ALL
