Here are some in situ pics of a point I recently found on a shoreline in East Texas. I believe it to be a San Patrice or a Dalton, though I am not exactly sure which.
Sorry about the quality, those pics were taken with my cell phone. Here are some pics of the same point with my new digital camera. You can see haw curved it is.
Sam Rayburn or Toledo? First looks like a little Greenbriar Dalton....apparently made for shooting around trees and corners...lol Second point is a Friley. Nice finds....keep those eyes open. Love the in situ shots. You are right about finding a perfect Friley...seems there is always a tip, ear or base broken on them....they are just too thin to survive the ravages of time like a more sturdy point.
Nice Friley, you might want to check out my post on Frileys there is a perfect one..They are difficult to find whole, they were used for warfare, meant for the barbs to break off to cause suffering, infection then death. My favourite points..
Thanks for the comments, Hey Atlantis, this is not Toledo Bend. I have wanted to hunt there for a few years, I have a cousin who lives on the lake near Hemphill, but haven't had a chance to go. Toledo Bend is massive, you could spend a year hunting and not go to the same place twice, and from what I've seen of your finds, some excellent artifacts. Josh
You had a nice day it would appear. I myself havent been hitting the lakes here in N.E. Texas. Waters too high on my spots. That San Patrice would have been used as a knife. Cool looking friley there too. I always like finding those.
