My parents have had my kids all the past week so on Friday night we drove up to stay the weekend for Easter. On the way we stopped by a casino for dinner that for some reason I thought was mainly coinless based on my last experience there.

Well, turns out its not coinless after all (nickels, quarters, and half dollar machines paying in coins). Seems like there are more coin paying machines now than the last time I was in there a year or two ago. So after dinner, I sat down at the bank of half dollar machines and ran through about $1200 in about an hour/hour and a half. One thing I did learn about casino hunting halves, the 40% can look like copper if they are worn out enough. Got a 1967 that if you didn't see the date you would swear it wasn't silver at all. I came upon this one almost immediately (in the first $200) so I switched from edge searching to date searching. On the way out I picked up $100 in rolls that I could search later as well.

So out of $1300 from the casino I ended up with
1 - 1964-D
2 - 1967
1 - 1969-D
1 - 2003-P

On Sat morning I woke up early enough to try out my parents town, but unfortunately over half of the banks in their area are closed on Saturdays, so I just stopped by the nine banks within 20 miles or so that had at least a drivethrough window open.

From 8 of the banks I had a total of $58.50 in half dollars with no keepers.

Bank #9 had $1700 in half dollars hand rolled from their coin machine. So I bought them all. The results were okay. It seemed like some of them were either picked over or someone's rejects as most of the silver came 2 and 3 per roll.

1 Frankiln (1951-D)
4 - 90% Kennedy (1964, 1964-D(3))
15 - 40% Kennedy (1965, 1966(4), 1967(5), 1968-D(3), 1969-D(2))
1 Proof Kennedy (1973-S)
6 Post 2001 Kennedy (2003-P(2), 2003-D, 2004-P(2), 2004-D)
1 Foreign (Mexico, 1 Peso (1971))

I have only done a quick edge search primarily so I hoping that there may be a few other goodies in there that I missed on the first pass.

Also picked up a box of pennies and nickels at one bank but haven't had a chance to go through that yet.

After my last stop I stopped by the tiny local casino that I had never been to since I was about 1 mile away. Ran through $100 in quarters but only saw 2 Canadian quarters (1974).

Also picked up $23.75 in nickels which produced
10 pre-1960 jefferson (1940, 1941(2), 1947, 1948, 1948-S, 1952-D, 1956, 1957-D, 1959-D)
1 Canadian (1977)

In addition to what was mentioned above my dad had bought some 9 fed-rolled rolls of half dollars from his bank (the only one that wouldn't sell to me without an acct) which produced 1 - 1967 and 1 roll that had 2 $1 coins in it a 1999-D SBA dollar and a 2000-P SAC dollar plus 19 half dollars for a roll value of $11.50.

My dad also an unsearched bucket of nickels from some casino between my house and his. From $24.55 got:
5 pre-1960 jefferson (1947, 1951, 1954-D(2), 1956-D)
1 Canadian (1999)

And on the way home, we stopped back by the casino with halves and I cashed in about $660 and bought another $240 which only produced 2 - 2004-D halves. I would have liked to stay and play, but oh well maybe another day. ;D

The box of nickels was one of my better boxes of the year.

1 - 1943-P War Nickel <-- only my second one in my last 400 or so rolls. :P

35 other pre-1960 jefferson (1939, 1940(4), 1940-S, 1941-S small s, 1946, 1946-D, 1947-D, 1948, 1949, 1951, 1952(2), 1952-D, 1953-D, 1953-S(2), 1954-D, 1954-S, 1955-D, 1956-D(2), 1957-D, 1958-D(4), 1959-D(6))

4 Canadian (1983, 1984, 1988, 1998)

The box of pennies was pretty bland.

6 wheat pennies (1939, 1944, 1944-D, 1945, 1953, 1953-D)

16 Canadian (1969, 1973, 1976(2), 1977(2), 1981, 1985, 1987, 1988, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1998, 2001, 2002)

Also date searched the $1700 in halves from the one bank and added
1 - 40% Kennedy (1968-D) (probably from a roll my son opened).
1 - 2002-D
1 Foreign (Ireland, 1 Penny (1968))
