Anyone familiar with old/abandoned mining operations along lower Weber creek drainage in El Dorado county, CA between Lotus road and the confluence with the south fork of the American?

there is a lot of private property bordering BLM there, many nice folks, but there are many Claims there as well, laws are laws. I grew up in that neighborhood and found lot of gold growing up and to this day, working creek beds and granite holes. theres all kinds of gold in gold country. best place to look is where you find it.

Are you asking this for the venue of nuggets? Or for coins/relics (of the miners history)? Not familiar with that exact location, but just ...... in general ..... for coins/relics to be found from the CA gold-rush: Oddly, the ruins that often remain, will, of course, be the industrial/commercial type stuff. You know, like the old stamp-mills, concrete sluice foundations, and so forth. And naturally, those remaining ruins are what "catches the eye" : ) But those are NOT the places you necessarily want to hunt (unless you are after naturally occurring nuggets). The places to hunt for coins/relics is not particularly where the miners WORKED, but rather ....... where they LIVED. The work locations will be strewn with industrial iron cr*p, etc... But somewhere nearby, they would usually set up tent-cities. And while the more permanent work/industrial features might be visible today, yet the tent-city locations often have nothing to mark their site. So the trick is, to find out where they slept, ate, played, drank, spent their $$, etc....
