.Unlike other lost or legendary mines in this area, there is little hard evidence it ever existed, and may be purely a legend, taken from garbled accounts of the far more popular legendary lost mines of Tayopa.
from http://www.bc-alter.net/dfriesen/mextreasure.htmlThe Lost El Naranjal, a mine with a gigantic pile of rich gold ore dug from it and stockpiled inside is located in the area of El Naranjo, east of Los Mochis and about 100 miles southwest of the Seven Cities ruins site in the vicinity of the small stream named Evera Mocorito. The ancient diggings are on a high mesa in the shadow of a towering mountain.
Better yet, let's get ORO to quit bothering the sheep, and go look for it.
And to think, last year I was thinking of taking Oro and Beth to what I consider to be El Naranjal in Durango. If my wife had not objected they would have seen my Naranjal site with their own eyes. Did I ever mention that my avatar are ore samples from what I consider to be El Naranjal?
With the mention of El Naranjal being on a high mesa, might that possibly be linked with the mesa del campanero? Wouldn't that be something if in some way they were linked?
El Naranjal will have to go on hold until you open up the main deposit at Tayopa.
