Happy New Years Everyone!! :headbang: :headbang: :icon_thumleft: Had a great day of hunting with pl8man and his bud. We got out early and it was pretty cold. I decided to try the little shooter coil today and it didnt upset. I ended up pulling two gold rings today after about a five hour hunt. One is a small band marked 14k, and the other is marked 1/20 10k and is all bent, but hey, gold is gold, right. I also dug a few neat tokens, some junk rings, and about $15 in clad. One spot I hit had sixteen clad quarters in one spot. Love those kinda spills!. I took a photo after cleaning up the rings. Between the three of us, we pillaged that field for about $50 in clad. Time to celebrate the New Year.......

Man, you cleaned up on that hunt!! What used to be in this field? Seems very productive. Congrats on a great ending to the year! Oh, I was curious about the markings on the bent gold ring and found this:
Gold-filled jewelry, also known as "rolled gold" or "rolled gold plate" is composed of a solid layer of gold bonded with heat and pressure to a base metal such as brass. Some high quality gold-filled pieces have the same appearance as 14 karat (58%) gold. In the USA the quality of gold filled is defined by the Federal Trade Commission. If the gold layer is 10 kt fineness the minimum layer of karat gold in an item stamped GF must equal at least 1/10 the weight of the total item. If the gold layer is 12 kt or higher the minimum layer of karat gold in an item stamped GF must equal at least 1/20 the weight of the total item. 1/20 12kt GF and 1/20 14kt GF are the most common stamps found on gold-filled jewelry. 1/10 10kt is also common. Some products are made using sterling silver as the base, although this more expensive version is not common today.

Hope next year is even better to you!!...........

@Roland58 : Thanks for that info on the markings. I remember it being kind of odd that it showed up in the +76 range on my whites. Gold is usually lower. At first I told the guys it was just a junk ring, because of the brass appearance and high VDI.
