Well, it is! Engraved on the bottom and has eagle on both sides and although it looks it, it's not gold. Maybe gold plated? Could be brass I guess.
Hi, I revisted the 1860 farm house where Friday afternoon I unearthed some nice indain head cents and the 15-star variety Matron Head LC.
Here's that link: http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php/topic,196890.0.html
Today's visit was once again worth my time as I finished up the small front yard and once agian, came out with another Matron Head LC. Too bad that it looks like it does, with a small hole in it and very little detail but I determained that it was a pre-1837 Matron Head as I can see the fat cheeks versus the later thinner version.
In addition, I also dug 1894 & 1897 Indian Head cents, and a 1911 & 1935 Wheatie.
Two great outings at this place and I haven't even got out of the front yard yet!!! However... no silver. I'm assuming the relative house next to it built in 1917 will produce some nice Merc's and a SLQ or two, or three, or... We'll see when I get there.
