This is a cent I found from a box of cents . It looks like 1998, a 1996, or a 1990.. It's almost impossible to tell... One thing that makes me think it is an error, besides the cracks, is "we" in "In God we trust" is stamped twice? Check that out or anything else you guys might see and let me know.. I'm not too familiar with cents besides wheaties and Indians.. But I found this and thought it was interesting.. Let me know what you guys think about it..

Think that is just Zinc rot. Might have been a Metal detecting find that was cleaned or put back into circ. Just junk- trade it for a copper cent...

certainly the poor quality of the coin is zinc rot - they last very little time in the ground. Most that I dig up aren't even remotely spendable.

As for the double stamped in god we trust, I can't seem to blow up the picture big enough to tell. I've never really taken a close look to see if zinc rot will make words appear double die in some intances. I suppose there's the offchance that this is a rotted version of something like a 1995 DD. probably unlikely, but possible. Valuable coins will rot too

Sorry cheap Zinc Cent [ but spendable]

It is just a zinc cent that has been scratched and pitted, not by the mint.

looks like the pennies I pull from my clients indoor koi pond at a restaurant. water does that to pennies.

Definitely zinc rot, almost looks like one I cleaned recently, but it might just be similar.
