Jeff, nice ring, did you find it? Seriously: Butler was not a well liked man. He considered all of the woman of New Orleans as prostitutes. The prostitutes in retaliation had portraits of him painted in the bottom of their wash basins. As I was told in truth "As the Yankees were approaching up the Mississippi, the fortifications past Ft. Jackson, would fire a few volleys and leave. The reason being: New Orleans "The City That Care Forgot" really did not care. The city wanted the blockade to end. They wanted their coffee."
