First chance to get out with the new Excal that has been laying on the spare bed for a month waiting to be taken for a walk and while I was loading it in the car, I noticed the coil was pointing off to the side. I thought I hadn't put the rod together right and might have missed getting the spring button in the hole, so I grab the coil and it comes off in my hand... Glad it was at home when I found it.... I'd have been really torqued off after driving an hour to the lake and see it come apart.

Apparently, Minelab uses a two part lower rod and they didn't apply enough glue to keep the pieces together... so here I wait while the glue dries.... not much better than watching paint dry!

Hope that is the only problem I have with it!!

I have repaired mine with same problem several years ago. A good marine epoxy works perfectly, haven't had issue since.
