My Excal II is not sounding on coins, or if it is, the sound is barely audible. I did an air test on a couple of large coins and could barely hear them. My 10" Excal blows my ears off doing the same test. It does sound off on iron but sort of strange sound, almost like a howl.

Same with and without discrimination. Sensitivity at around 1pm, threshold like mosquito.

Anyone have any ideas what might be causing this? Thank you......

Older blue Excal with full mods, Equinox 800.

I use 8" up 12x15" coils on my Excal, an old blue, and your 8" should sound off just fine.
Could be a bad volume pod, a short in the headphones, etc.:dontknow:

Most likely a loose volume knob. It may not be set as high as you think.
