I got this for the beach, but have used it everywhere. I have the White's MXT pro also. But my grand niece likes to go with me and I let her use the White's. I decided to use the Excalibur when we go hunting together. Really, I find just as much with it as with the Whites. In fact with it I do dig all pull tabs and with the White's I am a little more selective. I think if I ever am going to find gold I have a better chance with the Excalibur. Maybe not!!!!!

Happy hunting!

I found that the Excal does not have the depth on land as the E-trac. I have experimented and I would never use the Excal inplace of the E-trac or vice versa. That being said, if you have no other choice, that's what you would have to use.....

I have taken my Excal to nearby parks but it just gets so heavy after awhile (I have the aftermarket shaft). If I got more interested in relic/park hunting I would probably just buy a sovereign.
