I mixed some flex coat rod epoxy and reattached the tip. So far it has been rock solid: even with my SEF 12x15 attached.
I can't figure out the insert hyperlink function on this site - this is the epoxy I used: http://www.flexcoat.com/products/finishes-adhesives/rod-builders-epoxy-glue/

The carbon fiber lower shafts aren't expensive to buy. The old white ones can break and ruin your day... worth the $30 or whatever it is to upgrade.
