A good friend of mine found this Keokuk axe in 1989 in Scott County, Iowa on a field that I have hunted. I expressed interest in the piece and he said when he was ready to let it go that I would have the first shot. Well, I was able to acquire it yesterday in trade for another fine axe. This is one of the best Keokuks I have seen simply from a material and polish standpoint. The flutes are extremely deep and the overall polish is tremendous. It's pictured in "Keokuk Axes" authored by Bruce Filbrandt on the color pages plate IX and also on page 88. I'm tremendously happy to have the chance to be the curator of this local treasure and bring it back within a few miles of where it was discovered.

Very nice axe Jeff.
What exactly did you trade?
I can't imagine "letting it go"
