Fake Ben?

I have been CRH for quite a while and this is what I think is a first. A fake Franklin half. I have posted a picture of the coin and a picture of the weight 9.7g. It does not stick to a magnet but it doesn't sound like silver either.

It is dated 1958-D in case there are more out there. Sorry for the bad pictures.

You can see the casting lines around the edge of the coin. I have found a fake Barber but not a Ben or Walker yet.

I found a fake barber and a fake walker. They both were under weight.

I think a while back I found a bicentennial that i suspected to be fake. Although it did have copper on the edge, it was very thin and very very poorly struck. Kinda like your cast job Ben. I ultimately don't know for sure if it was fake or not because it was the first of its kind that I've seen but I just didn't want to hold onto it and put it back in the dump pile.

I don't know what I'd do if I found a fake ben.. turn it to the secret service?

More than likely it is Pewter which is about 95% tin which is non magnetic. Your Frankie has the same color as Pewter...that dull gray color. I came across a few of the Pewter halves during my CRH'ing days.
