I was asked to go to my good friend and fellow club member family's homestead, you guys know her as Cntrydncr1. We were walking towards the family's graveyard when Deb found an Indiana Head, I got a jumpy signal with my new 15inch SEF coil didn't expect to see this! It was great to find it but Greater to give it to her! Just think maybe one of her Great Great Great family members lost it and 239 years later it's back in the family, but I can tell you this time I don't think she will spend it. LOL

Very cool find!

On the obverse, is there an incuse, backwards HISPAN from 9 - 12 o'clock?

I agree there is something there at 9 to 12 o'clock that doesn't belong, but it isn't a backwards HISPAN. Almost looks like something was counterstamped there,

Nice find and my Honorable Mention vote is in.

It was so awesome to hunt the property that my GGGGGG grandfather built in 1775 and even more awesome to have a coin show up that probably was in his hands!!! It was found right in the middle of the path from the house to the cemetary. I still have to post my meager finds...I told Lisa she should keep this reale and I would be thrilled with the musket ball. My ancester and his brothers served in the revolution. But I"m thrilled to have them!!

What a great story and what a great find, coming only a few weeks after Deb found her first Spanish Silver!

I agree with Testing that there is absolutely an incuse, backward "HISPAN ET" on the obverse of this coin from the Mexico City mint! This may add considerably to the value of a fairly common coin!!!
