UPDATE: Class Ring Owner located! With the help of the local historical society, I finally located the owner of the class ring. I talked to the owner this evening, which was almost as much fun as finding the ring in the first place, and got the story of the lost class ring. In 1968 LRT's little sister wore her big sister's class ring to the beach and lost it there, probably no more than three feet from shoreline. They both felt terrible about it and the owner was absolutely overjoyed to get my call. She couldn't wait to call her sister and tell her the exciting news. I'll be mailing the ring back to her this weekend.
This has probably been my best week ever md'ing. I had a long, cold water hunt on Saturday, that netted me, in the first two hours, 35 cents. Then just about when I was ready to call it quits, I pulled up a man's 14k wedding band. No more that five minutes later, I pulled up the large silver band. Unfortunately the Minnesota weather only got colder in the next couple of days so Monday,it was back to shoreline hunting. Got to my spot and turned on the md and literally set it down right on top of the 1967 10k class ring at water's edge. Whoo whoo, my first class ring, I've really been wanting to find one of those. Remainder of hunt only netted two wheaties. Next day I found the tiny 10k ring on the same lake under a few inches of dried sand. Its got some age to it, maybe the 40's or 50's from the look. Last to pop up was the large silver and moss agate ring, that also looks to be old. It was found on the narrow retaining wall of a kids playground along with about 30 cents in pennies.
Sure hope the ring streak continues.
