Yesterday morning my daughter and I found an 1850's stone farm house that's been abandoned for about 2 years, apparently the property is now owned by the local town. There are no signs posted about 'No Trespassing' and the property is wide open to trespassers. So, I headed back there today and put in 2.5 hours. I think the place has been hunted before, because my finds were meager at best!
The items of interest that I did find was a gas lamp valve, the bottom part of a bronze hook for hanging a lantern or an oil lamp and an early lantern burner marked Holmes, Booth & Haydens, patented Dec. 17, 1868.
I found an interesting 'metal skeleton in the back of the property . . . looks like the metal under carriage to a farm wagon? The 'front' part of it pivots and the 'back' portion is fixed.
Thanks for looking,
Dave
