Great find. I heard that the tractors at the OC beaches have smaller holes in their screens so that the drivers clean up on that small stuff
when they dump. Also heard that detecting the 'turns' can be productive.

I often wondered if the tractors picked up the loot. Good job on the find

Huh... didn't know there were "beach cleaners" Do they pick up all the trash, rings and stuff? I'd love to go through where they dump!

I want to know this too, does it scoop up the dirty artifact-rich sand and dump it somewhere? If so it's likely loaded with goodies!

There are two types of cleaners/rakes. In the picture is a sanitizer. It moves slowing and picks up and sifts the sand for small pieces of debris. This will pick up jewelry necklaces some rings etc. It doesn't get everything. Drivers dump this in a dumpster that you're not allowed to search. I've talked with the drivers in the past and they have told me stories about finding jewelry! The other machine is a grading type unit with 2 to 3 inch wide tines like a rake that picks up big trash cans, boxes, shoes etc. I found the ring behind the grading tractors swath..........

They certainly don't get it all. I went behind one on Saturday at a different Maryland beach and got coins and a silver ring.
