Favorite Guitar Solo

If I had to pick my fav..

IMHO

For the 70's guitar solo it would be..
Jimmy Page In My Time Of Dying ( There was a reason Page didn't want Clapton back in the Yardbirds..He couldn't play!)

For the 80's.. It would be..
Randy Rhoads - Mr.Crowley (live tribute version, unable to locate..Keep trying Yngwie)

For the 90's it would have to be..
Steve Vai - For The Love Of God (Sit down Mr.Van Halen... You have been schooled)

For 2K+ I have to go with Joe

Joe Satriani - Searching (Since Joe is not from this planet, He cannot be compared to anyone)

Stevie Ray Vaughan: Little Wing, Texas Flood, and Tin Pan Alley

Not quite a solo but worth mentioning..

(Rush: La Villa Strangiato )

(Ted Nugent: Stranglehold )

A lot of great music/artists posted in this thread, well done!

The "Eagles", Hotel California (Don Fellder)

Something about slide guitar really makes good for solos if you know how to work it.

While Gary and Allen of Lynyrd Skynyrd were excelent guitar players and soloists, no one can compare to Steve Gaines guitar playing and slide solos. Roy Rogers is also a good slide solo player.

A lot of players play slide, but when you have the knack for it along with your regular guitar playing nobody can make it sound really cool to do both.

So many good ones were already mentioned Clapton, Hendrix, Page, etc. The was also little ole Leslie West of Mountain. Amazing base on the 2nd song Yasguar's Farm, bass riff like a lead guitar

I do have to agree with zoso71 about Joe Satriani, his guitar playing is out of this world. Once being married to a record producer for Fantasy Records I had the privilege to meet Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Eric Johnson and Neil Schon at a gig at the Concord Pavilion. Was one of the best shows I've ever attended.
