Federal govt land & building ownership

Federal Government Land and Building Ownership

clipped from the Property Rights Alliance
http://propertyrightsalliance.org/index.php?content=fedlndown

The federal government owns 653,299,090 acres of land, yet Congress is constantly
attempting to buy more land with taxpayer dollars. On September 26, 2005, the
President signed into law the Wind Cave National Park Boundary Revision Act (S. 276),
in which the goverment would purchase over 5900 acres of land, despite the current
maintenance backlog in the national park service.

Most recently, the government is considering S. 2645 and H.R. 319, "The Journey
Through Hallowed Ground National Heritage Act". This legislation will put public land
that crosses through 3 states into the control and management of a select group of elite
few that will also receive almost $1 million per year as part of this legislation. Click here
to read recent action from PRA on this issue.

Percent of all land in America owned by federal government as of 9/30/04: 28.8%
Total acres owned by the federal government: 653,299,090 acres

Comparison: District of Columbia, established by the Constitution as the federal city, has

only 24.7% of its total acreage owned by the federal government. Nevada has the

largest percentage with 84.5%.

Each year, the Republican Study Committee (RSC) reviews the land and buildings that

the federal government owns and leases around the country. To read this report, click

I have personally encountered the gubments high quality management skills.
..gate off the whole area.. don't allow anyone to pass
..controlled burn wildfire management that has gotten WAY out of control
..bulldozing access to popular trails in recreation areas.
..directing new offroad MC trails towards the private property of 'inholders
..dynamiting springs
..destroying mine portals
..closure of historic mining areas to anything but a goldpan
..closing popular, safe, target shooting areas which had been in use for decades
..removal of waste receptacles from very popular recreation areas.

What's next?

Hmmm.

I've long suspected something like that, Mac.
I better read it again.

I HATE IT when I'm right ! Correct, ...whatever !

Actually I figgered they'd go for the cornbelt, or the wheatfields... Maybe California's central valley of vegetables.
Oregon and Washington's trees.

They'll get New Orleans fixed up for sure, when they strip mine this country bare !

Whew!

Here is an interesting map that show what % of land that the govt. owns in each state. I wonder what things are going to be like for my grandkids? Very sad and scary things on the horizon I am afraid...

From what I read in the first link that was posted it looks like the west could very well become the New East
