And Probably Twice as Many Thorn Bites in the same time

I got Down to the OLD Twin Grove Park Today.
First time in about 5 Years.

I found the Bottle Dump, I believe. There were Bottles & Glass Everywhere sticking partially out the ground.
It's Gonna Take Time to I.D. THEM.

I also Found Out what 5 years of Growth can do.
Back then I could Walk up to the Pool And See the Sidwalk, The Fence Standing In the Back, The Cement Bottom of the Pool With Rebar Sticking Out The Cement, ETC.
After Searching For What Seemed Like Hours,Weaving In & Out Of Thorns, Walking in Circles, Crawling on My Knees, Etc. I came to It. What A shock.
It looks Like A Natural Hole in the Ground.

I was Able to Find the Ticket Booth & Concession. And Right Against theCement Foundation, at About 3" deep MAX. I found 53 Cents.
2 Washington Quarters 1941 & 1944
3 Wheat Cents 1941 , 1946 & 1946

Jeff, I never seen the fireplace. I think I walked over that ticket booth foundation a few times but did not put the coil to the ground. I do remember seeing alot of bottles , but din't connect it with the dump. I'll have to check things out better on Monday.............Nice finds, Rich

I forget when it Closed, But They Just Reopend The Park On ONE side of the road.

It's Called TWIN GROVE because it Used to Be on Both Sides of The Highway.

Now One Side Is Open & the Other Is in STATE PARK Land

Tough going, but some great finds!!!
Maybe i'm having dilutions from my contussions. But does any body see that face in the distance, looking directly at the camera, in the bloody finger hand shot?
It's on the top slab of concrete and the face is laying on it's right side and looking at the camera. And looks like it's wearing a wreath on its head. HH

I have seen a lot of those little clear skinny bottles that look almost like a vial on the forum . I wonder what was in them? Whatever it was it was popular whenever it was on the market. Either that or the glass was so thick it wouldn't break very easily! I have an industiral strength weed eater that would make short work of those thorn bushes and undergrowth. You might ask permission to do a bit of trimming next time you go in. I can't imagine anyone objecting. Everytime something like that goes defunct around here they develop it and build houses on it and cover it up with tons of backfill! Don't they realize they are spoiling our fun? Did you have pictures of the site before it got all grown up to help you orient yourself? If not, you might check and see if you can find some it would make your job a lot easier. Great site and very interesting finds. JIM
