This amazing 7 minute film is taken from a cable car as it moves along the street, not too long before the 1906 earthquake.

Check out all the interesting brass era cars and the slow pace of traffic.

Does anyone from San Francisco recognize the street ? Is the building ahead, in the background still there ?

I'm not sure if that building even made it through the earthquake, that city was nearly leveled. Since it was taken so close to the time of the quake I wonder how those we were watching were effected during the quake.

I just did a bit of research and that street in the video is Market street. The clock tower survived the earthquake and still stands.

I did a Google streetwalk along part of Market St. and it appears that not much else does.
