I haven't been MDing for too long, so these finds might not be much to you veterens.
Anyhow, I bought my MD to find old coins sence I collect them. So, today, I went out in my back yard and got a good coin signal which turn out to be my first wheat penny that I've dug. I would have been satisfied with just that. I made my way to my front yard and near the edge of my driveway, I got another good coin signal. It was my first IH that I have dug!! ;D I still don't know exactly what the date is due to the fact that it is extremly corroded.

Re: FIALLY 2x!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whoa!! Sure wish I had a backyard like yours. It would be well tended. LOL

Congratulations on your finds, keep hitting that backyard, go slow and listen for those really weak signals that are
repeatable in both directions and dig them. I hope you are using some sort of pinpointer, they really help. Also I hope you are using a good pair of headsets, the ones you can adjust each ear. Without them, it will be hard to hear those really weak signals.

Good Luck and HH, Ringfinder

Success is success and condition is not something to worry much about because you can't control it. Just keep finding and the better ones will come!

Don't do that to the ancients, you'll remove the patina and ruin them.

Uh oh, poor coins :-\

Patina is the oxidized metal that coats many ancient bronze and copper coins. It is usually green, but can be many colors including blue and red. The main reason you want to preserve it is that it is usually attractive and the coin under the patina usually isn't as nice. A coin with an attractive patina is often worth more than a coin that does not have a patina at all.

Careful zapping any copper, :icon_scratch: broken metal, and small silver or gold. You can cause damage, breakage, melting or even disintegration of the object. :dontknow:

Keep @ it and HH !! :D ;D

That's more like it. Very little to do with the patina, and looks more like electrolysis which is usually a terrible way to clean coins. They can also be dug and look like that as I've seen many out of the salt water that were as bad or worse.
