On Friday, I picked up my weekly box at the bank. I always open it while I'm there and take a quick look. I didn't see any silver at the end of the top row of rolls. The week before the box was a skunk, so I thought this one would be, too. On the way home, I had to get gas, take the family out for dinner, and go to a parade. So, I didn't get home until about 8:30. I started on the halves not expecting much. When I opened the fourth roll, I saw silver. At least this box wasn't going to be a skunk! Expecting a Kennedy, I was very pleased to see an AU 1951 Franklin. Three rolls later, I got an AU 1952 Franklin.
By the time I was done, I had a 1943 Walking Liberty, 13 Franklin's (4-1951, 1951-D, 1951-S, 2-1952, 1953-D, 1954, 1961, 1961-D, 1963-D) and three 40% Kennedy's (1965, 1967, 1969-D). All of the Franklin's were AU/UNC except one of the 1951's and the 1961. That's the best I've ever done out of a box. I know it isn't great compared to some of you, but it sure made my day and was part of a great weekend silver and gold-wise.
Earlier in the day, I picked up three 14K rings and a pair of 9K earrings at a garage sale for 50 cents each. I also picked up a pendant with an Anthony Dollar in it for 50 cents at another sale.
Yesterday, I found a 14K white gold wedding band and a 10K ring metal detecting, along with four $1 bills.
