At first I didn't know what it was. Usually when i find them they are worn smooth with only a faint small area to work an ID with. Not used to a bold appearance.

Tag was made out of lead. That's odd.

I love the reale and that tag is amazing. Any ideas what it was for?

Guess would be an animal tag. Usually there brass and this has no wear around attachment point. So not sure but farmers were creative and used whatever. I've found tags made from large cents and Indian head Penny's.

Don't know about silver but we definitely have many relic shot shells. I started saving them a couple years ago just to see how many I find a year. Up to 30lbs now which is roughy a few thousand.

Well you know considering how populated it is here and how early it was settled most of the good sites have been covered over sites seam to dry up fast. yes always digging early shells. PM me if ya want to go digging. Cheers
