I went hunting at the beach on Tuesday and found only 2 quarters a dime and a wheat penny. Surprised to find the wheat penny at the beach. Then went to Balboa park and hunted the area's in the brush between the trails found mostly trash, a large bullet and then the detector hits a dime signal. Since it read only 4 inches down I figured it was a newer dime. Boy was I surprised when the mercury came out. the first thing I saw was the wings. My heart almost stopped then I jumped up and yep I must admit I did the happy dance. First silver coin for me ever it is a 43 mercury. It has all ready been added to my keepers collection. Besides that I found a few dollars in clad. Went out again today to different park and pulled in another 1.42 in clad. Just goes to show skunked one day and on high heaven the next. Gotta love this hobby. HH Ted

Thadious - Congrats on your first silver. My first was a merc as well on Friday. Yours still has some really good detail to it.

WTG bro, don't overlook any coin at any depth. The few mercs I have found were at or around 4 inches, including one that was less than an inch tangled up in some grass roots. Congrats.

Congrats on that first silver, and first Merc. You never know what you'll get, at any depth; I found an 1853 half dime last week at two inches or less.

Congratz on your first!! Its a real rush, I found a 1865 2 cent at 4" most coins are at 4" and found right away by hunters. The harder deeper hits, are usually whats left behind.

WTG, Keep @ it and HH!!

Congratulations on your first! That merc still has great detail - would grade at least fine.

That's what is nice about this hobby - you don't have to go out and find all kind of gold, silver, etc. Just one simple find will make the day/week. :)
