Spent 4.5 hours with Dad on the Stubble Field (pictured), found out its set-a-side. Which is very unusual these days, but it gives us something to fill our time with until harvest ;D

This field has produced one of last of 2009's favourite objects:
http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php/topic,279748.0.html
But we have only covered about 20% of it so far.

Found:
Medieval Knife Terminal (horse hoof design)
Broken Tudor Clothes fastener
Roman Fibula (brooch)
1 Scrappy
17th C Button
14th C Buckle Plate with some cloth still surviving :o
18th C Clog Clasp
1900 3 Pence

The shortcross was found on the top by Dad, it breaks the drought (April we had none).

Hello Cru !
The penny of Henry III is a very good coin and it's amazing that the fabric of the buckle even survive.

So, 'bout a mile from my dad's house, there's a cornfield, had a scholyard on it from the mid-late 1800's until the early 1970's. I've been over it dozens of times, one indian head penny, and three wheat cents. You're killin' me, Cru'....you are no longer allowed to complain about "bad digging conditions" ever again, henceforth, post-haste, and all that ecetera. If h3ll is being stuck MDing in dry clay with roman and medieval coins in it, I'm buying a ticket tomorrow. Nice digs, bud.

congrats on breaking the drought! I might not be crying a tear for you though as my droughts involve 1940s Mercury dimes!

Nice field, and perfect for hunting. Did you do any research on it before?

I like the Hammered, fantastic coin and very old too. Also the fibula, I always like them!

Cheers

No, its not one of our targetted sites. Its one field that came as part of a farm permission. Land-Mag did the leg work as usual & fieldwalked it for pottery but there was none. He did however like the aspect of the land, as it was on some higher ground & close to water. As it turns out we have found out by detecting that the field was never a living site but people have been crossing over it or dumping on it for many years. ie. just a few random good finds, not much quantity.

No, its the middle of picture 3 with a hole in it and a little blue enamel on each shoulder - called a 'headstud type'.

Picture 4 is the side of the 14th C Buckle Plate showing the 'weaved cloth' still intact
