Well I've had this on my bucket list for a really long time..well 30 years at least.. Being in Oklahoma I knew chances were slim to none.. I met up with a good friend, Burdie, today and we headed to Arkansas City Kansas both swinging the XpDeus.
First off he finds the only coin target an 1899 Barber Half..

We moved locations and I found a property for sale and we called the realtor.. We hunted the sidewalk right of way.. There was zero targets except for one.. Solid 86 but didn't sound deep.. I started the plug and ran into a root.. Make a longer story short.. I got down to about 13 inches and finally got to it... The brass face is missing but the brass keepers are there.. I am stoked...-1 off the list for 2015.

After talking to several individuals about the reason this plate was found in the location it was, 2 scenarios have came up..
1) It was from a federal trooper that was patrolling the border into the Oklahoma Territory.
or 2) When the Civil War fired off, Texas succeeded from the Union and the Forts in the Southern Indian Territory(Oklahoma) abandoned the forts and retreated into southern Kansas.
