015.JPG 017.JPG 007.JPG 010.JPG 014.JPG Had about two hours or so this evening to hunt, did pretty good for the time I had by my standards. Finally got my first eagle cent and found a toasted large cent of some kind, but I will never know what it is,it is gone, "Damn You Fertilizer".The eagle cent is pretty rough too, but I was happy to get a date.It turned out to be 1858.It was like scratching a lottery ticket while I was cleaning it,'I was thinking come on 56" but that would have been to good to be true:).It is a first for me, so I am pretty happy with it.Thanks for looking- HH

Excellent finds especially on the eagle cent. Hope I can go to the coin show again this January and see lots of these eagle cents and all the other good stuff. Plan to check out the mercury dimes and gold coins.

That flying eagle isn't that bad for a dug one. They just don't hold up like some of our other cents. I'd sure be happy with it!

Looks better than either of my two flying eagles. Here's a post with photos of the BETTER one of the two I've dug. :(

That's the other part of it, some may have been found but we'll never know. Because they do tend to get eaten up. I've found 7 of them over the years and every time I turn one up, it makes me appreciate the first one. Not because it was first, but because it was in excellent condition! It's displayed in my best finds here. I was brand new to the hobby and had NO IDEA! LOL

Just finding one that one read is a LOT!

Nice!

Congrats on finding your first Flying Eagle! Four years in and I'm still looking for my first one, maybe one day.

Since I seldom find anything of much significance I check out a LOT of posts on here to see what the real metal detectorists turn up almost daily. I've seen a few flying eagle cents in the last year and yours my friend is every bit as nice or even a little nicer then any I've seen. I would be doing the Irish Jig had I found that coin in that condition. As everyone has said they just don't hold up underground. Congratulations on such a nice find.

Those flying eagle cents can be hard to come by. I have only ever found one.
