Have fun dumping them :laughing7:

Actually with such a large amount surely you could find someone to pay even a slight premium for them, like $1,020 for the entire bag or something.

good luck with your dumps, and congrats with the silver eagles. I have been seriously considering asking my bank for ikes as well, but I have the feeling If I dump them on one bank, I will lose the relationship. I will stick with halves. :)

What is your secret to get them to order the bags. Every bank I talk to says the can't order Ikes.

Most banks will have to physically call their supplier and ask if they have any Ikes. Banks that use online order forms or paper order forms usually cannot order Ikes because there is no spot to order large dollars on the form. Even if they call, not every carrier delivers Ikes or has any in stock.

Actually, assuming you don't return them where to bought them, but rather to a different bank you use, they can ship them back (assuming you have a full bag) along with their other full bags of coin. Shouldn't be a problem. IMHO

Ikes may not be a bad idea, but how do we turn them in other than in bags? I called 40 banks in my area one day to see if I could put my halves in a bag to have them ship out - I could not find any that would do that for me other than a couple that said the turn around time to get my cash is 2 weeks.

One to two weeks isn't unreasonable to get your coins counted. They are not counting them there, they are sending them to their money service (Brinks, etc.) to be machine counted. They may only get a pick up from the service once or twice a week, then the service has to go through its process before it can credit the funds back to the bank, and, finally, the bank has to sort through the deposits from the service to credit your account. I do this with one of my banks and bring in to them from $1000 to $3000 dollars at a time. Once you get the routine started it generally goes smoothly. The trick to getting quick access to your money is to make some initial deposits and wait until they have credited your account. After that, each time you drop off a few bags to go out for counting, you walk over to a teller and withdraw what you need in cash from your account. No wait at all.

I have managed to get 2 bags of Ikes since the first of the year. The first bag yielded 1 peace dollar and 2 40% Ikes, the 2nd bag yielded nada (unless I can score the 3 variants of the 1972. I have those set aside for detailed searching later).

Returning them isn't too much of a problem as I can cash them in at area casinos. Plus I now know when i spend them at an area Chinese buffet the waiters go nuts over them (in a good way) for some reason.
