Went to my favorite park today for 1 hour with the Whites V3i . Got a solid signal tone 75-85 on the VDI showed green freq and 9" on the pinpoint. Dug down 10" nothing but did get a hit on the pinpointer in the center of the hole. Dug down about 3" and out pops this. At first I thought it was a token but then I saw the date of 1806, you don't find things from 1806 in Spokane,Wa. It is a 1806 George the 3rd Half penny. Oldest coin I ever found in Spokane. Took some pictures before and after I wet toothbrushes it. It's soaking in mineral oil now. Any tips how to clean it? Should I?
Thanks for looking MackDOg

The 1806/07 is the most common of all the Georgian coppers, so no need to worry about its value. But I would leave it.

To me it's priceless earliest copper I ever found

I'd pretty much leave it as is....otherwise odds are good whatever details are left would just get cleaned away.

Regards + HH
