I try and do a lot of research on old beaches around New England - or any where else I plan on trying to go to
I came across this old post card the other day - its of a beach I used to hit years ago - years ago I used to do very well here in the old gold and old finds depts.
one of my finds was this old beach tag/locker tag - after finding it I tried finding out anything about Rudd's and came up empty
not a big deal for those that are just in it for the gold ...but for me its part of the hobby
This postcard I think is from the early 1900s... this place was wiped out by the 1938 hurricane
Now I have the name with the place - for me its cool

If you look in the middle of the card towards the water - what you see is a dive platform that was like 50 yrds out from shore - its was probably in 8-10 feet of water
to its right - not in this pic - was a huge floating platform
I plan on taking my snuba out there on Monday - so hoping to get some more old stuff - will keep
everyone posted if I follow thru with hunt

Is this in a lake Casper? All the ones I have from Belle Isle have a W for Woman's or a M for Men's lockers. I wonder if the G is for Girls?

No - its a saltwater spot
it just might be G for girls - thx for that
ive found many old keys from here - think the ring connecting to tag was steel and rotted away - wonder if in my box of keys if
I could have its match - will never know
ive mentioned before - for those that don't know - lot of beaches used tags like this but stopped making them out of brass when WWII
started - so if you find an old beach tag out of brass - then its probably from pre 1940s
and could be a good sign to other old finds
everywhere ive ever found them - ive gotten silver and old gold

I hope you can find where the platform was. Seems to me if salt water and changing tides it would have been moved a lot to keep divers happy! Wouldn't want to dive in 2' of water.

so not to give it away - (some might know the spot) - but cropped this pic a lot
the dive platform would have been planted - raft is huge - look at guy in air farthest right - he is on a low dive board -
finding area will be easy (I cropped out things that will make it easy - problem will be if time, man or mother nature buried stuff from the past
out of reach) - if weather permits me - i'll be getting in there hopefully on Monday - on sunday I have another spot to check out from 1800s to the 1960s
that I'm hoping might hold some goodies - no swimming there in like 50 yrs - think they just use for fishing - but read it was popular for awhile for the rich and famous
early in the 1900s - so hoping I have something to share from there too...never heard from any other hunters hitting there ...we'll see

Sweet looking spot.
It is really cool that you were able to match the lower tag with the post card.
Good luck and I hope you find the gold just laying there waiting for you.

Casper, I think it is so cool that you found a locker tag from the place in the old postcard. Nostalgia at its best! Congrats. -Lisa & John
