Nice photos tinpan. Finds like that are becoming very common these days.
Children need to be taught not to be up everything they find.

Great looking site TP! Could be a nugget waiting to be washed out there. HH, Mike

(Badger, what are you doing up so early in MI? It must be about 4:30 am???)

Tinpan, that's a dreadful hazard. Ive found them too, on the beach. While it doesn't surprise me that a junkey is not responsible enough to dispose of their syringes properly, they should think about the children using the beach, like my own 2 year old son. I would be in bits if he ever got poked by one of those.

Ha! The old Badger couldn't sleep. Seems like I'm doing this a lot these days. Guess I'll have to get back into night hunting. ;D

Do you hunt at night? I was out at 6:00 am this morning, while the tide was out. I'm not much of a sleeper myself.

;D What an incredibly beautiful creek! I can visualize some great adventures in exploring there! ;D

As for the item you found . . that is sad :'( . . . there is beauty around us . . everywhere . . but apparently some individual is unable to see the beauty & I am assuming turns to drugs . . sad :'(

The area I reside has always had the beer cans & broken bottles carelessly tossed out & unto paths that many kids have to take to school . . as well the Elementary School is apparently the hang out spot . . liquor, beer, drugs & the newest craze. . condoms >:( tossed EVERYWHERE :'(. .It is nasty!!

Odd place to find something like that. Where I live it's not a huge concern but it's still always at the back of my mind and one of my greatest fears. Those will go straight through most gloves. I think you just gotta keep a sharp eye.

Sad to say, but it is just as likely that a diabetic or a trash company or a hospital "lost" that little gem, just as likely (or more) than a junkie.  Junkie's don't like to lose their needles.

On the other hand, medical waste (the hazardous stuff that nurses and staff throw in separate, red colored bags) find their way to lots of places they shouldn't be - from the oceans and rivers, to the recyling plant for your waste management.

That was my worst job, I think - worked for Waste Management - those red bags were dumped on the conveyors with everything else, broken open, of course, and I found everything from needles to tubes of blood. (I quit the job).

And people who use needles legally, just dump them in the trash when they are done.  No concern for anything.  A junkie would be THRILLED to find one of them.

Thanks for your thoughts and input. If only one person learns from this post about hazards as such, i will be happy. That was my intent.

Thanks for posting Tin,

I have found a few on the beach that I hunt when I am on vacation. I pick them up (with my digger) and put them in a used pop can. Then seal it shut. I then just put it in the general garbage. That's what I do.

Sharp focus.

Artistic composition.

Creative presentation.

What is WRONG with this picture?

Gee, thanks, Tin. I spent $800 at the ophthalmologist's, and now I find out that the problem was your camera! :P :D

It really does look like one for insulin for a diabetic they are really small like that and have a really short needle in them. It also looks like it is still loaded but at least it still has the cover on it.
