I was at my cottage in northern Wisconsin and it looked like rain was coming, so I decided to detect my front yard. I found a lot of junk and some shell casings, a broken grab hook, a spent bullet and a whatsit. Any ideas on what the little hook thing is would be appreciated. It is made of brass.
Also the shell casings, If anyone knows more about them, that would be great. One says 45-60 W.C.F. and W.R.A.Co., the second is marked 11 13 and F. A, and the third is 30 W.C.F and W.R.A.Co.. The primer has not been fired on this one but the bullet is missing. Sorry if this is a little pic heavy.
The last two pics are my front yard that they came from.

Your what-is-it, it was used to latch down the hood on the older cars (pre 30's). (Third photo, center) ?

I looked online and can't find any that have wood on them. This has a rod that goes into wood that is all rotten.

Brass item looks like a pole hook.

If my memory serves me, that hook was used to open and close windows above one's head. The nuns I remember in first grade used them. The highly curved end, pulled the window down to open. The open end was used to push the window closed.... high above the nun, hence, the pole. One side fit into a ring (open) and the other end into a hole ( push to close). TTC

The first one is 45-60 Winchester Center Fire, made by Winchester Repeating Arms Co. It was used in the Model 76 rifle and others also. The second one, F. A. stands for Frankford Arsenal, it was made in November of 1913, (11 13) I'd need measurements to tell you more. The last is 30 cal. Winchester Center Fire, made by Winchester Repeating Arms Co. Hope that helps.

Terry C. Looks like we are in the same club! I went 1st grade to 8th grade to a Catholic Private school and was taught by Irish Nuns from the Sisters of Charity. I too have seen the windows opened and shut with the hook type on a pole. The Nuns (God bless their souls) would shut the windows before screaming at us.(Most of the time we needed it!) I don't think it was a hold down for a car hood, it looks like it has a old wood handle like what we are talking about. Good to hear from ya. I think we pegged it.
