Wind Blew my Front Door open Gusts to 50MPH up here.

That could have been bad. Glad you took measures to prevent a reoccurance. Would not hurt to check your smoke detector batteries.

Curtains can be replaced, but I'm thinking its time to get a new safer heater Jeff. The oil filled rad heaters are safe if something comes in contact with the surface. The great news is your safe and not displaced in any way, just a wake up call so to speak.

Wow, glad you're okay but that was too close of a call. Get rid of that heater and find something safer. Your guardian angel is working overtime!

If your house had caught on fire, the only thing you would have grabbed would have been your detector. Right?

Save the Minelabs at all cost ! and be safe

The Explorer Sits Right here in the Living room on the couch.
I have to pass it every time I walk in out or by the room.

Trust me it will be the first thing I grab in an Emergency Evacuation of any type.
if Armageddon happens, there will be allot of free land to detect without having to get permission :coffee2: & forget the Twinkies... free Batteries Galore !

Can't get it for My house. Would need to tear it Down & rebuild, So Yes home insurance-such a waste of money !
when I had it, it was like, Spend $10,000 Here,
Spend $20,000 Here Make your Monthly Payment to us, Spend another $10,000 Here. Do this, Do That. Not enough We're Dropping you ! ya Know they doubled my Payments when they found out I was on a Fixed Low income ? :unhappysmiley: Not sure if it's fear I'd scam them, Or
knowing I can't afford to make my house look like a 22st Century
Mansion that protects itself from fire and the weather, & needing them. first time I reported a Roof Leak they dropped me like a Hot potato

JEFF, get a smoke detector! I have a kerosene heater. It sits in the middle of the kitchen floor and is tested a couple times a year and used only in power outages. Fortunately I don't have to use it more than once a year. Also got a modern whole house generator. Be careful.

I'm gonna assume you're joking. That smoke will kill you real quick buddy, fire part won't matter. Get rid of that open heater, get somethin else goin on. Fire is nothin to mess around with, and these days we have the ways and means to early detect them and get out ok. But if you do decide to live the outlaw life and everything goes up in flames and you are able to get out, do not decide you need to go back in for a detector or whatever. There was a guy who successfully escaped a house fire, but ran back in for something seconds before I arrived, and he burned to death because when I did get there, I couldn't get in to get him out.
