Today the Deus showed up and man was I stoked. Tore open that package like a kid on Christmas morn. Turned on the controller only to find out it wasn't even charged. :BangHead: So I plugged it in for about a half hour and ran down to one of my old spots that has been hit by many people and many machines. First I found a 1941 wheat amongst rusted old pieces of beer cans. I thought it was awesome considering it was amongst all the junk. After digging a couple handfulls of junk. I dug the round thing. I don't know if it's a rosette or what, but it is what seems to be brass, lead filled back with an iron pin going through it. It was getting a little dark and I was slowly working my way out of the woods, and I got a nice sounding signal. Right under the surface I pulled a rusty old beer bottle cap! I re-checked the hole and there was that nice clean loud signal agin. Dug down 8" and out pops a little black coin. I thought it was a toasted wheat or Indian, but to my surprise it was an 1891 Seated Dime. How happy I was to find out that once I learn this machine. All my old spots might be new ones again.

Here is that whatchamacallit round thingy. Hope someone has an idea.

I'm a great fan of that Deus, still learning with it. For me, it gives me a lot of confidence around iron. It is so adjustable to the site conditions. I hope Deus comes out with a better way of waterproofing it. I love being able to hunt with it in the water.
That Seated looks like it has beautiful detail on her, I'm jelly, lol.

Nice way of starting off with the new machine, with mild temps that are predicted for the month of December you'll get a few more chance out to test drive it around the dirt.

It is ALL about having the proper tools for the job.
And it seems you have found yours.
I am looking for another detector now. I just can't seem to get the full hang of my old CZ7.
So, I am keeping my eyes on CL, looking for that deal.

Nice finds and keep on hitting those "hunted out" spots.

Congrats on the new machine and the seated dime.
The only disadvantage of the deus is that your buddies that don't have one, wont want to hunt with you anymore.
I think my huntin buddy that uses the AT Gold is about to dis-own me.
The other one with the Fisher doesn't call me much anymore. :dontknow:

Great to make that seated find. I've got an ATPro I'm very happy with. But how much deeper are you getting with your Deus ? Is that including using the diff freq. On the Pro. ?
I'm always interested in going deeper. Lots of sandy soil around here, I'm sure things are sinking deep.
I also have the NEL coil, but it gets heavy on the arm after awhile..

I upgraded to the Deus from the AT Pro. I did a very good job with the ATP and the 5x8 coil. However, in the older spots I am finding targets at every visit. These are areas I absolutely pounded, gridding multiple directions with the ATP, in different conditions. I have found very deep coins that the ATP couldn't hear. I am also finding a lot in the trash. It's a great upgrade.

MM - what settings are you liking on the XPD?

I should have. 30/45 minutes isn't enough time to learn this thing. Guess it's better then no time at all. I did pull another wheat and a 1940 Jefferson.

Great hunt breaking in that Deus Nepa-Will! That seated dime looks like its in great condition. Awesome choice on the Deus!

I drank the kool aid and got a Deus 2 months ago. Took it straight to a site I have pounded with two other machines. 1st day got a complete shoe buckle (bucket list), War of 1812 bayonet, another complete shoe buckle frame and a LC. 2nd day at the same site got me a hand engraved colonial musket patch box plate, another LC and a CW US bit boss. I only have about 50 hours using the Deus so far and I know I still have lots to learn. I was a bit skeptical at first, but after the first two days the Deus moved to the top of my machine lineup. That thing is awesome!

Looking forward to seeing what else you turn up with it.
