Both of these finds came from the best site I've hunted. Also found at this site and posted in other threads are: 3 large cents, 3 Indian heads, 1 buffalo, 1 mercury, 4 wheats, 1 shield nickel, WW1 hat pin, and more

All these finds were in four hunts that I did while in town at my parents house for the holidays. I won't be back for some time as the wife and I are moving to NC but I hit it pretty hard and the last time I went I only found the button.

Any information on the button is appreciated. The text is a old style and all that I can make out is ".....T & BU....." There's still a lot of crud and dirt on it but after the peroxide cleaning that I gave the 1813 large cent that I found 4 feet from this button, I'd rather be more conservative in my cleaning methods. Seems like all the gold gilt is still there

The button is what we always referred as a "Fancy Button". My guess on the date would be between the early 1800's though the 1830's. Nice finds!

Lemon juice will clean that button up nice, it will however leave any non gilt areas looking a little browner than before.(worth it I think as it will look like the day it was dropped)
