This is my first cannon ball, which I confirmed by measurement and weight to be a 24 pounder solid shot. Diameter is 5.67-5.68 inches (17.81" circumference divided by Pi) and weight is 23.6 pounds. I found this near a ""supposed"" civil war cantonment near the top of the ground, partially exposed. A Local expert confirmed my novice deductions and confirmed it is Not a fused shell. The cast seam line is very rough and what I would call the "sprue" is evident on both ends. Farthest thing from my mind I expected to find!!! Location Eastern/Central Oklahoma.

Yes it does have a flat spot directly on an axis with the seam line. think polar cap and equator with the flat spot as polar cap and seam line as equator
