Garrett GTAx 1000
So, I am a brand-spanking newbie to the hobby and to this site! I love reading all the threads and they truly are what have inspired me to really get out there and search. I live in southwestern Michigan, nowhere significantly special, in a town that was settled in 1840. Recently I acquired a Garrett GTAx 1000 from my wife's grandfather. Nice little detector! Anyway, my in-laws live in a house built in 1898 and the street in front of them is being torn up...time to try out the Garrett! So far in just a week I have found a Double Gilt NO.2 flat button with shank in tact, a round ball from a pistol (estimated caliber is 36mm...so I'm told), and something from a company called John Wyeth & Bro. out of Philadelphia which I found out was a pharmaceutical company started in 1840 and closed its doors in 1860. In truly have no idea what the Wyeth item is so please if anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them! Aside from the relics I have also found a 1923 Merc and a 1945 wheat penny and a bunch of additional clad and scrap iron. All together I am truly hooked!!! Can't wait to get out again and see what other treasures await! Thanks for reading and any info you can provide on the mystery item!
