First gold of the year!

I set foot on the beach at 10:07 a.m. and at 10:27 a.m. BAM! my first gold ring of the year. My first gold anything of the year to be exact. After I finished my happy dance, it was back to finding the clad. I worked the dry sand until 4:30 p.m. Towards the end of my hunt out popped a nice silver bracelet. This was my best hunt in a long time.

Thanks everybody. The ring was a real surprise. I was so excited, that I sent my wife a text message on my cell right after digging it. I figured with kids going back to school this week there would be less people at the beach. Less people on the beach, the less chance of finding jewelry, or so I thought. The clad was popping up quite a bit too. Finding the bracelet was nice towards the end. I was just about turn and search in the other direction when I found it. The ring is pretty heavy, but I think the bracelet is just a little bit heavier.


I experienced another first on the beach yesterday. A young couple (mid 20's) were walking by the water about 20 ft from me. All of a sudden he stops dead in his tracks, gets down on one knee and proposes to his girlfriend. She was very shocked by this as I heard her say "are you serious!?" She immediately said "yes". A few other people around me noticed what was going on and applauded the couple. It was nice to see that.
