Saturday I went back to the place where I found the broken Spanish facsimile coin the week before. Unfortunately, the farmer has his electric fence repaired and it is making life difficult for the metal detectorist in the old cow pasture. Every time the fence pulses, my detector beeps. I tried changing frequencies and settings, but couldn't eliminate the interference. To make matters worse, the grass and weeds are growing up and the ticks are showing up. I brushed two of them off my shirt.

At this point I'm getting ready to go somewhere else when I hear an iffy signal under a big clump of grass. I scraped the grass clump away with my shovel, and now I'm getting a perfect 93/94 coin signal on the Deus.

It's copper #8 FTY and it's the first one that I can actually read a date and see letters....barely :laughing7:
Turned out to be an 1810 Classic Head large cent.

I also found this totally out of place DC Capitol Transit token. What the heck is this thing doing in a cow pasture in SW PA?

Finally here are other finds from the last two weekends that I didn't post

Nice finds Steve.

Yeah the half cent is a pretty decent one.

Getting hot and it's growing up fast. I've been roofing for the past 3 weekends.

But I snuck out the past 2 Sundays and scored some goodies.

Thanks Jeremy. Glad to hear you're done with the roofing project and can start getting out more. By the way the Copper is a penny, not a half cent. A half cent would have been nicer.

That's not a bad day! I hit that spot I found last week Saturday, worked it for a few hours and nothing. I never came home exhausted but did on Saturday's hunt. Cocktail and nap set me straight.

1810 Large Cent? What a great score on that one, love it! An LC is still on my bucket list. We find Seated, Barbers and Indians, but no LC's so far. Congrats.

You're not allowed to have a cocktail unless you find something good. But that can depend on your definition of "good" :laughing7:

Nice old Largie Steve! Congrats
Thanks Thad

Thanks. I'm sure there is one out there with your name on it.

A great variety of treasures!
