Great finds ! That crystal quartz is just unreal .... I always check the area around groundhog holes but haven’t had any luck yet. Think I would be digging some holes of my own after seeing that

Absolutely beautiful points and really cool to find one on a gopher mound, nice of them to do some of the work for you :laughing7: There are groundhog holes that open up in the banks of my creek in 3 different areas that have been my biggest producers and I've sort of thought that is the reason I find so much there.

That quartz point is a beauty! :icon_thumleft:

I always have to check out those gopher mounds since that point one I found a couple years ago.

Our gophers and groundhogs need to get busy! I’d faint if I found something that beautiful. Fantastic start to 2018!

The crystal point would make my year. I've noticed you find a lot of them. Do you think they used quartz out of preference or necessity? It is a hard stone to work with. Continued good luck out there!

This area has a lot of different materials large outcrops of cherts but I think crystal put a little magic / good luck in the hunt. The camps I hunt all have crystal points seems to be a sierra foothills favorite.
