I found a 1905 indian head penny (first one) and two wheaties, one is 1911 w/ mint mark (hard to tell if it is s or d) and another wheatie, cant make out date, maybe 1919.

What is the best way to give the wheaties a gentle cleaning/soaking to get some more detail out of the dates? Thanks for your help!

Heat some peroxide in the microwave til it's bubbling...take it out and drop the wheaties in...cleans them pretty good.

Don't do the peroxide bath if you think it is a key or semi key. Soak it in olive oil for about a week and pull it out and gently rub some baking soda on it. The olive oil does a few things. It loosens the caked on dirt and acts as a lubricant to keep from seriouse meat being taken off of the coin. Below is an example of the results of a coin with the same caking you had.
