Awesome job!!! Try using a toothpick on the caked dirt, leave it dry and rub the loose dirt off. Should clean up pretty good. Post up some cleaned up pics when you get a chance. Congrats again!!
Congrats on the first… Best way to clean it would put it in hot peroxide. I just use a small glass, put in some peroxide and heat in the microwave for about 45 seconds. Drop in the coin and it will start bubbling away the crude.

I found one 1844 a month ago so wore out, yours looks better. i ended up after the tooth pick cleaning, using naval jelly for 15 seconds.It basically stripped it to the bare copper, it looked better with the patina! Nice find bra..
